Our fearless All-American Quartermaster is back in the East County Californian. Please join us this Sunday in supporting her with our Relief Fund drive in her honor.

This week's meals: Thursday the Auxiliary will have whole meatloafs available (pre order by Wed only) and there will be Chicken Stuffing Casserole available for those who would like to hang out with us for dinner; Friday is our infamous Steak Night which will include our Family Night making patriotic crafts for Memorial Day; Saturday is Burgers and Dogs; and finally Sunday is the Relief Fund Cancer Fundraiser for our All-American Quartermaster Ana who is battling Stage IV Cancer. Please come in and help us help her. She is an amazing Marine and we want to let her know that we are here with her and we want to fill her with hope in her journey ahead to win this battle. If you would like to volunteer for any of these fundraising efforts, just drop us a line. We take hand ups and hand outs! #vfwpostpride #noonedoesmoreforveterans.

Breaking News: We shot well beyond the 700-fan milestone recently and were just too busy to publish it here for you to know. In the last few months, our Post has experienced a surge. We sincerely appreciate everyone who has joined our team, followed our Page, and dropped in to say 'Hi' these last few months. We are looking forward to a great 2017-2018 year. :)

Commander Sends: "I want to sincerely wish every mom out there the happiest (and most well pampered) of Mommy's Days. Also, I owe a Ginormous thanks to Wayne and John today for working with me to TRY to make today a mommy-less breakfast crew where we could assist the Youth in treating moms to a great breakfast without moms lifting a finger. I think we were reminded of 2 things - 1) best laid plans... 2) Moms somehow always end up making sure everything happens whether they were responsible for it or not. (Thank you Paula, Phyllis, Miranda, and the other moms who pitched in when we got buried in work - sorry Facebook isn't letting me tag you all.) John was on the back end of supporting 2 gigantic days for the Post and Wayne has been diving in despite his numerous other commitments. Veterans like you, and your families, are the strength of our Post. You are the lifeblood we need to survive. And, thanks to Auxiliary member Candace who led the charge, as she does every Wafflers' meal, to 'herd the cats' and lead our devoted youth as they worked so hard to honor their moms and all of the moms who joined us today. Everyone did an amazing job today. Thank you."

ANOTHER EPIC DAY! Our Post continues to soar! We hosted the District 1 Mass Installation where our Post's first-ever female veteran Post Commander Paula Jansen was installed, her daughter LeAnna Brown was installed as the Auxiliary President (possibly the first mom-daughter duo in Post leadership history - checking on that one ;) ), and Troy Hooks and Kathryn Kelly hosted an enormous all-you-can-eat Crawfish Boil that drew a huge crowd and was an enormous boost for our Carpet Fundraiser. Huge kudos go out to everyone who made today happen. We continue to prove day in and day out why we are All-American VFW Post 5867.

Join us tomorrow for a special Mother's Day breakfast. And the Canteen will have $2 mimosas. 🥂

Placing Flags at Ft Rosecrans National Cemetery

As we prepare for Memorial Day, you are invited to attend a flag placing at Ft Rosecrans on Saturday starting at 8 a.m. Parking is always limited so carpooling is recommended and please arrive early. Please wear a Post shirt if you have one (they can be purchased in the Canteen) or any blue shirt. This is a family event. We will meet near the entrance on the bay side and do a group picture about 7:30 a.m. Ft Rosecrans is located on Cabrillo Memorial Drive, San Diego 92106

Tonight is Gary's Chicken Fried Steak, and it is very popular so make sure you sign up; Friday is our steak night; Saturday we will NOT be having burgers due to a VFW function (But there will be a Crawfish Boil on the patio!); and Sunday is the Wafflers Mother's Day Special with Unicorn Waffles! Another fun-filled weekend with great grub and great people at the 'V.'
