Today I'd like to officially announce my new practice name: Regrowth Integrative Acupuncture. With this new name comes an updated website. regrowthacupuncture.com. Check it out! To go along with this announcement I wanted to pick a great acupoint to discuss: so here's some information about Heart 7, Spirit Gate. I chose this point because it helps our true spirit shine through. Regrowth Integrative Acupuncture is a part of my true self shining through in business form, so it seemed appropriate. Thanks for reading! HT 7 - Spirit Gate Purposes: Enables the spirit to shine or protect itself as needed. Helps build stability, center, and nourishment with the spirit and emotions. HT 7 is known as Shen Men in Chinese, or “Spirit Gate.” The yang aspect of the spirit, shen, is that side of us that shines through in public and shows our best selves, especially when happy. Don’t think this is that fake persona we put on sometimes. This is true self. The heart in acupuncture is the monarch organ. When the heart is balanced, all is well. When it gets knocked off the throne due to sudden scares like car accidents or bad news, anarchy rules the emotions and we can feel “besides ourselves.” HT 7 can help calm the feelings of anxiety and other emotions that make us feel scattered, giving us a feeling that the mind and spirit are in balance. When in balance, the spirit can shine through when we want it too. If the “spirit gate” is too open, we can seem manic or have feeling of anxiety.
