Continuing Father Baker's Legacy of Caring Baker Victory Services (BVS) is a non-profit charitable organization located in Lackawanna, N.Y., which provides a wide range of services to children, youth, and families in need. Each year, more than 4,000 children and families of every race, color, and religion receive care from approximately 1,200 full- and part-time staff members.

During Nurse's Week, May 6-12, we would like to thank our wonderful nurses who take such great care of those in our care. These dedicated nurses provide care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and we would like to say THANK YOU!

Students from our Baker Hall School program participated in another service project this year by creating special coloring books for children who are placed in our emergency Foster Care program. These students were happy to present a staff member from the Foster Care progam with the coloring books and proud to "give back". We believe in the wonderful words from Henry Ford - "To do more for the world than the world does for you - that is success."

Last Thursday, the WAY Program welcomed Stephen McClellan an HVAC technician from Local Steamfitters, along with other community volunteers, to "share their trade" with a group of Frontier High School students who are transitioning to adulthood and exploring careers. Other trades that were represented were sales, small business ownership, EMT, home health, food service and management, medical billing, clerical, corrections and law enforcement. The students not only had the opportunity to learn about these careers, but the paths that led our volunteers to work in their current fields. Thank you to all of our community volunteers for taking time out of your day last week and sharing your insight and life experiences with these students, and thank you also to the families and staff at Frontier High School for supporting this event.
