Burgers, Barbecues and Hand Shakes

Here we are getting ready to kick off the summer once again......and although this weekend is usually filled with yard sales, barbecues and parades (and bug spray), we also have to keep in mind what this weekend is all about ------> Memorial Day is a day on which those who died in active military service are remembered. So please, while you are enjoying your family and friends, remember those who have fought for us and our freedoms in years past. I hope you all enjoy your weekend. If you are planning on hosting or making a guest appearance at a barbecue, here are some helpful (and yummy!) additions to the menu. Burgers are a go-to item for most outdoor gatherings, so here is a nice change of pace: a burger with a punch! If spicy burgers are not your style, there is a milder version of a tasty, healthy turkey burger. Happy Saturday! I wanted to leave you all with a thought as we start the weekend. I'm sitting here on my deck after a short Saturday morning run and it got me thinking about rest. And I don't just mean sleep. We know it's important, but do we all get enough of it? We are busy people. Jobs, families, after school programs, sports practices, errands, yard work...the list goes on. This is all on top of our weekly workouts which are squeezed somewhere in that list of responsibilities. With how busy and worn down we can get throughout the week, it's important to take time to let your body rest and unwind a bit. We all do this in different ways, but regardless of how you choose to relax, it's something that needs to find it's own place on our to-do lists. I challenge you (and myself!) to find 20-30 minutes each day this upcoming week for the sole purpose of unwinding and giving your body a chance to reset and recharge. It won't be easy, but I can promise you that if you can find a way to do it, you'll be surprised at what it will do for you mentally and physically throughout your week. Happy resting! Coach Chris
