First, Cairn is a community-based brewery. Our goal is to offer fresh, delicious beer where our neighbors live, work and play. Cairn’s taproom offers outdoor seating in sun and shade, indoor communal tables and cozy couches, and an up-close view of the brewing area.
Cairn is family friendly with board and card games for all ages. We also offer high chairs and a family bathroom with changing table and a kids-sized sink and hand dryer. We stock non-alcoholic beverages from Jones Soda and Martinelli’s.
Cairn is also dog friendly—so saddle up your pup and bring’em in! We have water bowls, a pet waste station and often pet treats behind the bar.
Getting to Cairn is easy—find Cairn by bicycle and foot from the Burke-Gilman Trail, by bus via 5+ bus lines along 522 and by car with onsite parking.

Cairn makes beer; we don't make food. We offer locally-sourced snacks in the taproom.
People often ask us: what is a cairn? Simply put, a cairn is a pile of rocks that serves as a navigational marker along a trail. When we started to plan for what became Cairn Brewing, we were hiking on Mount Rainier and passed a cairn. Instantly, we knew that would be the name of the brewery. And finding a site on an urban tail became our guiding principle for a location. From there, the path to the Burke Gilman in Kenmore WA was a short one.

At Cairn Brewing, it’s all about being a neighborhood brewery and taproom-where you can bring your family and relax with your neighbors and friends. So, for our 1st anniversary, we’re making it a neighborly kickoff to summer! Celebrate our 1st year with us over Memorial Day Weekend--May 26-29! Here’s the line-up: Friday: 12 noon: HopTraverse Beer Releases! #s 6 and 7 start pouring with Comet and El Dorado as the featured & only hop in these SMaSH beers! 5pm: 1st wave of the limited re-release of HopTraverse #s 2 &3 with Mosaic and Citra hops—available ONLY on a special tasting tray of HopTraverses 2,3,6 AND 7 together! We’ll pour one sixtel-sized keg each of #s 2 and 3 until it runs out! …And it’s Family Day! We’ll have face-painting for the kids and a multi-generational corn hole tournament at 7pm! Food trucks will be Tacos El Güero 12 noon to 8pm and ChicagoWest 5 to 9pm. Saturday: 12 noon: Beer Release! The Homebrewer Series: Brewing IPAs
The Homebrewer Series: Brewing the Illustrious India Pale Ale Sponsored by Cairn Brewing and Micro Homebrew Join local homebrewer Jesse Young for a Special Class on IPA’s, a comprehensive class to take your brewing to the next level! This class focuses solely on IPA’s, their various styles, and tips on choosing the right hops and yeast for your recipe in order to brew a great batch every time! In addition, there will be a side by side tasting of two popular styles of IPA to help you understand the vast spectrum of this beer. During this class, he’ll demonstrate an all-grain batch so you can visually see the process from beginning to end and cover topics relevant to all-grain brewing. We’ll mash, boil, and cool a 5 gallon batch of beer with Q & A throughout the live demonstration. This class is for everyone, but there will be advanced content and techniques covered. The non-refundable* cost is $35.00 per person per class. Each class size is limited and classes tend to fill up quickly, so please call Cairn Brewing at (425) 949-5295 or stop in to reserve your spot today! *You can register in the brewery during regular business hours, you may also register via telephone. Class size is 15 minimum, with a maximum of 25. We highly recommend pre-registration for all classes to ensure your space in the class, and to ensure minimum class size. If minimum class size is not met 3 days prior to class, we will notify you of cancellation. Drop in students are welcome, provided we have space available. Class fees are not refundable.
