Description
Kearney Country Club is a private club featuring a picturesque 18-hole golf course, swimming pool and fine dining Clubhouse with two bars and banquet rooms Kearney Country Club was established in 1918 with land purchased from the Saunders family. The purchased property included a house, which was remodeled into a clubhouse with dining downstairs and golf pro living quarters upstairs. The course, called Grandview Golf Association at that time, began with 9 holes, buffalo grass fairways and sand greens.
The first Club manager and golf pro was hired in March of 1940. In exchange for $100 per month and a furnished apartment on the clubhouse’s top floor, the manager worked to maintain a first-class golf shop and clubhouse while a hired man—hired at the expense of the manager—maintained the course year-round.
During WWII, the Kearney Air Base was in full operation, and many officers, as well as enlisted men, became members. The facilities were soon inadequate to serve the needs of the growing membership. In 1944, the last 9 holes were developed and completed and a new sprinkler system was installed. By 1948, the original 9 holes sported grass greens.
Dues at that time were approximately $54 per year, stock went for roughly $100 per share, and caddies were available for 50 cents to $1.00 per round. The Annual Labor Day Golf Tournament attracted the top golfers in Nebraska.

The Golf Course will be open for walking on Saturday and Sunday. We will continue to monitor course conditions to allow for the most availability while ensuring a healthy course this spring. We hope to have carts available soon and we hope to see you out here! Thank you!
