Sector Juneau will hold a change of command ceremony today at 2:00 p.m. AST. You can watch it live right here on our Facebook page. Capt. Shannan Greene will transfer command to Capt. Phillip Thorne during the ceremony. The ceremony will be presided over by Rear Adm. Micheal McAllister, commander of the Coast Guard's 17th District.

On Friday, May 12th, Coast Guard Cutter John McCormick visited Craig, Alaska. Over 250 members from the local community came aboard the new Fast Response Cutter for a tour. City of Craig Craig City School District Over the next few months, Sector Juneau's two Fast Response Cutters, John McCormick and Bailey Barco, will be visiting various communities throughout Southeast Alaska.

The Juneau Flotilla of the Coast Guard Auxiliary will be doing FREE Vessel Safety Checks for recreational boats this Saturday, April 29th, and Sunday, April 30th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (or as weather permits) in the Western Auto Parking lot. If you can trailer your boat, take it by for a FREE safety check. If you can't trailer your boat, you can still stop by and set up a time for an examiner to stop by your home or boat slip for FREE! Members from Coast Guard Sector Juneau, the Juneau Police Department and several other local, state and federal agencies came together with industry participants for the Polar Vortex 2017 AMSTEP Functional Exercise in Juneau, April 12. The Area Maritime Security Training and Exercise Program is conducted to test and improve area contingency plans and builds partnerships among agencies committed to public safety.
