As our Ocean Lifeguards were wrapping up an intense week of training with the pier jump this morning, they were treated to some early morning sunshine. Those warm rays made the view from the top even more spectacular!

Today we learned a cool German word that has no exact English equivalent. We think it describes camp perfectly. Heimat (noun) - a place that you can call home; a sense of belongingness, acceptance, safety and connection.

A special "Thank You" to the USS Decatur CPO Mess who joined us for a COMREL (Community relations) project. They were a huge help with some of the heavy construction cleanup that was needed after the new cabin were installed!

Moving a new cabin from the parking lot to the other side of camp takes quite a bit of teamwork... and one mighty strong, radio-controlled, mini-tractor.

Mom slipped a note in Ari's bag when he attended spring day camp for the first time last week. Ari found it and wrote her a reply...and we think it's pretty awesome!

There’s only 90 days until the first check-in for summer 2018 and campers will have a newly resurfaced climbing tower to look forward to!

Wedged between a bunk and the wall, we found this unaddressed postcard from summer 2015 while tearing down Cabin 10 this morning. We'll never know exactly how many campers and staff called Cabin 10 home, but this serves as perfect reminder of the positive growth that occurs from time spent at camp.

Out with the old, in with the new! It's move-in day for one of the new cabins and we're saying goodbye to an older one.
