When I asked why he opened the restaurant, Renzo replied, in his charming thick Italian accent, “No one opens a restaurant to get rich. You open it up because you have a passion. It can only be because of passion.”
Renzo's is Western North Carolina's fastest rising star on the culinary scene. Situated directly on Hendersonville's historic Main Street, its beautiful and sophisticated décor has been tantalizing locals and curious tourists for months. The patient waiting for Renzo Maietto to finally unveil his labor of love to the town has been very well rewarded.
Renzo's Ristorante is most simply a man's homage to his beloved grandmother, Angelina and his cultural roots in the village of Viterbo Italy. In Italy, food is love. It is how love is expressed every day in the kitchens of every family. Renzo has longed to bring his grandmother's recipes, which coaxed the feelings of warmth and comfort for him for so many years, to a larger audience. It is like she lives on when her food delights an ever increasing throng of adoring fans.
