From Dr Rich Melheim: Until what you're doing with Christian faith formation looks and feels a lot less like a class and a lot more like a fun, loving, learning, caring Cross+Gen extended family, most people won't stick around after it's done. We've seen what happens when faith formation is defined as a class (Sunday School and Confirmation). 90% leave when they "graduate" and don't come back. It's easy to leave a class when it's over. There are few relational threads to pull you back. It's a lot harder to leave a family. Be the church with no class.
