Solomon Schechter School of Westchester
Description
Westchester's premier private Jewish day school providing a comprehensive, rigorous dual curriculum for grades K-12.
https://twitter.com/SchechterW Since 1966, we have built a warm and welcoming community fortified and strengthened by the values and practices that are at the core of our school. Our students embrace the pursuit of excellence, the joy of achievement, the importance of Jewish tradition and ritual. We are excited by new ideas and delight in our families’ involvement in our school, in Israel, and in tikkun olam (repair of the world).

Making a Difference - As a capstone to their 4-year experience in our Engineering and Entrepreneurship (E2) program, our seniors hosted a Tikkun Olam in partnership with TOM Global. In roughly 12 hours, student teams used the skills they have developed in design, engineering, product fabrication, collaboration, and creativity to improve the lives of a local person with disabilities in a very concrete way. This event embodies the unique combination that defines Schechter Westchester's mission: academic innovation, strong moral character, and the enactment of Jewish values to improve the world. Be sure to watch this brief video documenting the extraordinary project or read more about it here: https://www.schechterwestchester.org/cf_enotify/view.cfm?n=5675.

High School Rosh Chodesh celebrations this morning
This week's Flashback Friday
Chanukah celebrations continue with special guests, costumes, classroom activities, and a life-size Chanukiah.
So here's a sweet story. Pictured with Associate Head of School Rabbi Harry Pell is Meryl Stavitz-our new bus driver for students in White Plains. Meryl reached out to Rabbi Pell for Chanukah music she could play on her bus route because she couldn't find any on the radio. It's nice to know our kids are so well cared for door-to-door.
Award for best decorated classroom might just have to go to HS Rabbinics teacher Seth Pertain.
