A concerned citizen found this dog on Main Road and brought him to the Town office thinking we could track the owner down. Unfortunately, his tags were not Hampden tags, so we do not know who he belongs to. Here is a picture of the friendly guy. (albeit a little blurry as we couldn't get him to stand still...) If anyone knows who he belongs to, please contact Public Safety.

In a follow up to the earlier post about the Stream Clean Up postponement to May 20th, the same day as the Garden Club's Annual Perennial Plant and Pie Sale.....Due to the damp and chilly weather, the Garden Club is not getting as many plants as usual, and donations are badly needed. This is their biggest fund raiser, from which many of their good works are manifested. With a sense of civic mindedness, this group adds to the aesthetic beauty of the town by maintaining garden beds such as the Memorial Garden at the Town office, Reeds Brook, and the Gazebo. If anyone out there has plants they wish to contribute, please bring them to Harmony Hall on Sunday May 7th between 2 - 3pm, or Tuesday May 9th between 10am - noon. Additionally, donations of pies would also be greatly appreciated - whether sweet or savory - and may be dropped off on the 20th at 10am. On a side note, as the new Town Clerk for Hampden, I had the pleasure of attending the Garden Club meeting on April 25th at the beautiful and historic Harmony Hall. Bob Bangs of Windswept Gardens gave a very informative presentation about Urban Gardening, and during the business portion of the meeting, Garden Club members were enthusiastically discussing the Annual Stream Clean Up and their desire to take part. This group, and many others like it, are the reason that this town shines in so many ways. It all comes down to citizen participation, and I tip my hat to them and all others that actively take part in volunteerism and community building. It reminds me once again, how very happy and honored I am to be your clerk.
