Join hosts Grove City Brewing Co. and Rustic Brew Farm for a VIP Tour & Dinner for 25 lucky people! Together the Brewer and Maltster will talk about how the whole process comes together from “Field to Glass”. Come tour Rustic Brew Farm's Malt House and see samples of raw barley, green malt, and finished malt. Matt the Maltster will talk a little bit about the process of growing the barley to meet malting standards and about the malting process. He will go through each phase of the process and describe how subtle differences can make completely different malts. He will also talk a little about growing and processing hops and the Ohio Hops industry. Matt is a 4th generation grain farmer in Marysville. He started RBF in 2015 as a way to diversify his operations and connect two things he loved; craft beer and agriculture. They planted 100 hop plants and 50 acres of malting barley in the spring of 2015 and build a small-scale malt house. After harvesting their barley crop, they began malting the barley in February of 2016. The first year hop yard produced a small amount of hops, and coupled with our small malt production, they were able to provide ingredients for several local beers. Demand for their malt and hops continues to grow and in June, they opened their second malt house to meet the demand. There are plans to expand the hop yard next summer! Providing Ohio's craft brewers with their locally grown malt and hops has been a challenge, but also very rewarding. Matt loves seeing the entire process from the field to the glass and then enjoys the end product! He plans on making "brew farming" a part of their farming operations for the foreseeable future. Ticketed Guests will meet at Grove City Brewing Company (guests can also transport themselves) @ 12:00 Noon - Event starts with meat and cheese trays at GCBC and one drink ticket per guest good for a glass/pint of any GCBC beer on tap @ 1:00pm Sharp - The Columbus Brew Adventure bus leaves to the Rustic Brew Farm and Malt House @ 1:45pm - Arrive at Rustic Brew Farm where guests will receive tour, along with samples of bread made from the farm grains and dipping oils @ 3:30pm - Dinner will be served “cook-out” style On the Menu will be the option of: Smoked Pork Butt or State Fair Style Chicken Half (please specify at ticket purchase) - Sweet Corn on the Cob - Grilled Asparagus - Homemade German Potato Salad - All Drinks included (3 different GCBC beers, Sweet Tea, and Lemonade) Each guest will receive a GCBC pint glass along with entry into raffle for prizes! @ 5:30pm - Guest will load up to return to Grove City Brewing Company
