Congratulations to Brandi O'Shields and daughter Brayleigh Hendricks for winning the Tube Dude contest sponsored by artist Scott Gerber and the City of Greer. Brayleigh's photo with Giant Dude and their suggested name "Silly Dude" was selected by Gerber as the grand prize winner. The two met Tuesday morning when Gerber was in Greer to install eight regular-sized Tube Dudes around the city.

Need to get rid of old appliances, lawnmowers, electronics, tires, paint and paint thinner, motor oil, herbicides, insecticides, and other items junking up your home and garage? City of Greer residents can drop off those items and more free of charge Saturday (April 29) as the City hosts its annual Spring Cleaning Day. Items will be accepted at the City Recycling Center from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Unneeded and expired prescription drugs will be accepted by the Greer Police Department for proper disposal and a mobile unit will shred unwanted personal papers.
