facebook.comOn Sunday July 16, Gardner Fire, assisted by The MA District 6 Hazardous Materials Team responded to a major refrigeration leak at 384 Timpany Blvd. The store was evacuated and ventilation was set up. The Haz-Mat Team used their specialized metering equipment to evaluate the atmosphere in the store. Once the situation was deemed safe for everyone the store was allowed to reopen. Gardner Police and the Gardner Board of Health also assisted on scene. MedStar Paramedic 2 stood by as a precaution.
Its already been a busy Holiday weekend for the GFD. Crews have responded to multiple calls through out the City including this one car MVA rollover. The accident actually happened in Ashburnham with the suv rolling over and landing in Gardner taking down a telephone pole and live wires. Luckily the driver only sustained minor injuries. Please have a safe Holiday!
With the high heat, the ground is drying out quickly. Gardner Fire Group 3 and Westminster Fire responded to this brush fire in the median strip along Rt 2 this afternoon.

Firefighter Sunday
During Firefighters Sunday awards are given and New Officers are sworn in and pinned with their new Badges. Pictured below from left to right is newly appointed lieutenant Steven Roy. Middle is Lieutenant Eric Hulette, who received The Gardner Fire Department Merit Award for " Untiring devotion to duty in the establishment of the Gardner Fire Department Emergency Ambulance Service". Far right Is FireFighter Pete Gamache, who received The Gardner Fire Department Merit award for "Exemplary performance in spearheading fire service programs for the youth of the City Of Gardner, particularly the SAFE, High School intern, and Mock MVA programs." Congratulations to all three!
Gardner Fire Department · With the normal Medical Helicopter landing zone shut down at MWCC for the Relay For Life for this weekend, Engine 1 assists Umass Medicals Life Flight Helicopter with landing at the Middle School Saturday afternoon to pick up a criticaly ill patient from Heywood Hospitals Emergency Room. We are always happy to help our Life Flight friends!
