facebook.comOther shops don't like us and that's ok. They have to charge what the insurance companies tell them to. In 29 years I've seen the cost of paint labor increase from 28. Per labor hour to 32. While mechanics charge now about 150. Per labor hour. With that being said we are getting a lot of hate from other shops so I must kind of set the record straight. They dont like the fact that we expose the myths and selling points of how they make theiir money.
Shops like to over charge customer's by trying to SELL you extra coats of clear for the shine. It's not the amount of clear you have put on that makes it shinny,. it is the way it's put on. Any shop who gets to over sell by this tactic dose not know what they are doing or how the system works. But it's a selling point to seperate the customer from their money. Truly if you go more then 3 coats in about 6 months your clear will milk up or turn white and die. So you wasted your money. Please don't fall for that selling point.
People ask us alot if we prime the whole car before painting it. The answer is NO. Primer is a filler, that means if you sand a spot down to bare metal you spray primer to build back the paint thats missing. People are told by maacos and other shops that primer is an adhesive. It is not, when you remove paint from a whole hood you generaly are sanding it with 80 grit sand paper, so you prime the hood and then sand the primer with 600 grit sand paper. Which is a finer ( smoother) grit so that you can spray color (base) over the primer. The simple answer is that primers dose not help hold the paint on.

Body shops like to offer warranties. Here's the truth about them, a lot depends what the shop want to do. But don't buy into one. That's also a strong selling point.
Why pay extra for a sub par paint job? JP auto paint is the home of the original $400 paint job. Don't let other shops use scare tactics to fool you into paying more money! When you deal with JP auto we have no problem explaining to you the real Painting process vs. scare sale tactics, and short cuts used by most body shops! That's why we are posting three popular ones here! The first big selling practice for body shops is to have you believe that they use the best materials available and that is what makes them superior this is simply not true! Truly the superior materials are being used on show cars that cost well over $10,000 to paint. The truth is there is a base line standard throughout the painting world and it is used by most shops, even most body shops that charge you three grand or more will use it! Materials do not make the quality of the paint job, what makes great quality is the amount of knowledge the person prepping your vehicle has! With 25 plus years of Paint experience and the right know how we ensure the best quality! Secondly they will use painter tricks to make your vehicle look good, they will tell you they are saving you money by taping off sections of your vehicle and painting only the bad spots! They will take a short cut by doing what's called burning in the clear and buffing the spot that was blended. But this type of blend or burning in of clear is inferior and will show up within 6 to 8 months. This is a short cut plain and simple, one of which we at JP Auto Paint will not do!
People ask us all the time why and how we are able to do inexpensive paint jobs? Our answer is this. We have our prices set so that everyone from, first time car buyers to retirees can get a great looking paint job. Other shops can do this also but just choose not to. We don't use sub par paint products as some suggest our paint jobs last from 5 to 7 years with proper care. Paint jobs will fail without care; which means you wash and wax on a regular basis especially during winter. When there's salt and snow on the road you should wash it off at least once a week. Please Feel free to call or text us with any questions.
