Of that same group of people, at least 90% are under fed and over trained. * * So what does that mean? It means that these folks have been eating far less than their body needs to support their lifestyle and activity levels. Sometimes they’re eating so little they are dangerously close to their BMR (basal metabolic rate) or the amount of calories your busy needs at rest to keep vital functions going, such as breathing. * * Long story short, these folks can’t lose weight no matter how little they eat and how much they exercise. Their body has literally down regulated metabolic function because it thinks its starving....and well, it is 🤷🏻♀️. So what’s the solution? * * Enter the Reverse Diet... a Reverse Diet is a concept increasing calories and/or decreasing caloric output in order to restore normal metabolic function before we can move into an active dieting phase. * * Sounds completely counterintuitive right? Eat more, and move less to lose weight? Well, let’s be honest, there’s generally 3 outcomes that occur during the course of said Reverse Diet: 1. Weight gain 2. No weight change 3. Weight loss Unfortunately, there’s no way to predict which category you will be in...but, we know it is crucial to increase calories regardless. If you don’t restore metabolic function, you’ll never achieve your goals and potentially suffer health consequences from prolonged metabolic down regulation. * * Does this strike a chord, and interested in learning more?
