facebook.comWe have created a series of interactive maps (http://arcg.is/1mznqb) to describe the concept of PedBikeWays (Pedestrian-Bicycle Superhighways) – a potential series of linear corridors that would allow safe and comfortable cross-town travel for pedestrians and bicyclists. Four potential PedBikeWays have been identified: Milton, Downtown/Southside, Eastside, and Westside. We are asking for your assistance to refine the plan for PedBikeWays, and to help move the concept forward: First, spend some time reviewing the interactive maps (http://arcg.is/1mznqb) to become more familiar with potential PedBikeWays. Second, complete a short survey and comment form at the Flagstaff Community Forum (https://www.peakdemocracy.com/5793) to share your thoughts with us about PedBikeWays. Third, share this email with friends, acquaintances, co-workers, and family members who walk or bike, and encourage them to review the maps and take the survey. PedBikeWays will be included in the City’s Active Transportation Master Plan (www.flagstaff.az.gov/atmp) and could be considered in the list of projects to be funded via renewal of the City’s Transportation Tax. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Not only do bike lanes and sidewalks cost less in materials and maintenance than roads, but they also create more construction jobs, which cycles that money back into the community. For every $1 million spent on roads, it creates 7.8 jobs. For the same money, bike lanes create 11.4 jobs, sidewalks create 10 jobs, and multi-use (like our FUTS trails) creates 9.6 jobs.
