The Fernley Convention & Tourism Authority is Now Accepting Applications for the July-December Grant Cycle Grant Process May 1, 2017 - The Fernley Convention & Tourism Authority (FCTA) is pleased to announce the opening of the first grant cycle for fiscal year 2017/18. These funds are for activities and programs that promote tourism to and within the City of Fernley during the period of July 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017. Applications will be accepted for projects, events, and / or activities that will promote tourism in Fernley, Nevada. All applications must be received by 4:00 pm on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. Please mail or deliver to: Fernley Convention & Tourism Authority City of Fernley 595 Silver Lace Blvd. Fernley, NV 89408 Attention: Phoebe Bender, City Manager's Office Allocating of Grants The FCTA Board will review and make grant selection during their June 19th meeting (5:00 p.m.). Grant applicants will be notified when the agenda is available for review. Attendance at the meeting is strongly encouraged. Applications without representation at the Board's Funding Review/Allocation meeting will not be considered for funding. One of the goals of the FCTA is to grant requests for funds generated by the Transient Lodging Tax to outside agencies for use in any of the following areas: Advertise available accommodations, hotels, motels, restaurants, etc., within the City of Fernley Advertise available transportation, bus, air, etc. Advertise natural resources and climate Advertise special events Advertise the resources of the City of Fernley Reimbursements of budgeted expenses for special events, which have been approved by the board Grant funds are intended exclusively to develop, promote, and improve tourism to and within the City of Fernley. Funds may be used for no other purpose. The FCTA is looking for projects that are consistent with the FTCA’s goals and objectives. Projects should identify a specific target market, and offer a specific strategy for reaching this market. To be eligible for reimbursement, all expenditures must occur during the grant period. This means radio, newspaper advertising, etc. must actually be performed, not just contracted. The actual date of the event doesn’t have to be in the grant period, just the dates of the actual advertising for the event. The City of Fernley is accepting applications for the Deputy City Clerk position, applications will be accepted through 4:00 PM on May 5th. This position will have an emphasis on processing business licenses. Under general direction, carries out the statutory duties of City Clerk as stated in the Nevada Revised Statutes, 266.480 when the City Clerk is unavailable or upon assignment. Assists in day-to-day operation of the department with primary emphasis on the performance of advanced, specialized administrative and office support functions for the organization; assists in conducting City elections and acting in the absence of the City Clerk. This is a mid-management position responsible for assisting in the oversight of and participation in all activities of the City Clerk’s Office. This class is distinguished from the City Clerk in that the latter has overall statutory and management responsibility for all activities and services within the City Clerk’s Office. This position may be required to work unusual or non-traditional hours that may occasionally extend into the late evening, in order to attend various meetings as the assigned representative of the Clerk’s Office.
