Women's March for Action
Description
Indivisible Eugene's Women's March for Action will be on January 20, 2018 from 1:00-3:00 with march starting at the Federal Courthouse, 405 E. 8th Avenue. Indivisible Eugene will be leading this 2nd Annual Women's March on Saturday, January 20, 2018. We are inviting all of our allies and members of our community, calling it "Women's March for Action" because there is much work to be done and we need to come together to make a difference!
Since the November election, a new wave of activism has washed over the country. Young, diverse voices are shouting in outrage, saying we will not see the rights women fought so hard to achieve vanish.
Some declare, “We will rise,” while others defiantly warn, “We will not lie back down.” People are learning to actively participate in policy decision-making by contacting their government officials to let their voices be heard.
March organizers across the country hope that these marches are just the beginning, a rallying cry, a call to action, a show of numbers and new energy that will help swell the ranks of organizations already doing human rights work. It is the hope that each person will find the cause that resonates most dearly in his or her heart and, with newfound passion work to see concrete changes in our society.
Silence is not an option. We are striving to build lifetime relationships that will form stronger foundations for the movements to transform our country. Join us!
All participants commit to peace, deescalation, etc.

facebook.comThis is good - from Senators Wyden and Merkley: For Immediate Release: June 1, 2018 Wyden, Merkley Co-sponsor Bill to Protect Children Left Alone When Parents Arrested or Detained By Immigration Officials Washington, D.C. –Sens. Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley said today they are co-sponsoring legislation that would protect the safety and well-being of minor children left alone and vulnerable after their parents have been arrested or detained by U.S. immigration authorities. “Innocent children shouldn’t face a sudden and mysterious sense of abandonment when their mothers and fathers are swept up by immigration officials in communities across the United States,” Wyden said.“This bill would restore humane protections for these young people so they can be contacted by their parents and have care provided for them. In addition, the Trump administration must end its cruel new policy of separating children from their parents at the border to deter people from seeking safety in the United States, which is only causing more trauma for even more children.” “The Trump administration’s inhumane immigration policies are hurting children,” Merkley said. “That is beyond unacceptable. This bill would put in place critical protections to ensure that children’s contact with their parents is never cut off, and to treat children with a bare minimum standard of fairness and compassion throughout our immigration system.” The HELP Separated Children Act’s protections for these children include: · Allowing parents to make calls to arrange for the care of their children and ensuring that children can call and visit their parents while they are detained; · Allowing parents to participate in family court proceedings affecting their children; · Protecting children from being compelled to serve as translators for their parents in immigration enforcement actions; · Ensuring that parents can coordinate their departures with their children, including allowing parents to say goodbye to their children prior to being taken into custody; and · Requiring ICE to consider the best interests of children in detention, release, and transfer decisions affecting their parents. The Humane Enforcement and Legal Protections (HELP) for Separated Children Act was introduced by Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN). Cosponsors along with Wyden and Merkley include Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), and Robert Menendez (D-NJ), Michael Bennet (D-CO), Cory Booker (D-NJ), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), Richard Durbin (D-IL), Kamala Harris (D-CA), Martin Heinrich (D-NM), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Edward Markey (D-MA), Patty Murray (D-WA), Jack Reed (D-RI), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Tom Udall (D-NM), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI).

This is Lin Woodrich. I was the Welcome Speaker at the Women's March this year. I am representing myself alone and probably all women and most men - I KNOW I'm not the only person feeling this way... I have sent a request to Senator Merkley for ideas and support for a mass gathering of people into the Texas Walmart detention center and DEMAND that the children be returned to their parents! We need to take action. Doing nothing won't help. Marching in our own cities won't help. We need bus companies to donate their buses and drivers, restaurants to donate food for the people who want to make the journey and hotels and motels to donate the places to sleep. The country needs to pull this together. The people can't afford to do this alone. The 1% want it that way. We the People need to stand up for what is right! This policy has CROSSED THE LINE! Yes, I'm angry! Let's start this plan happening - bring on the comments!! https://www.wnycstudios.org/story/senator-merkley-denied-access-migrant-children-facility-texas/
