Cascade Park in Elyria
Description
This site is a Fan Page committed to honoring and promoting Cascade Park.
Voted the 16th Best Park in the US in 2012 Coca-Cola's Living Positively Contest Coca-Cola seems to have stopped running their favorite parks contest. So now the purpose of this site is simply to remind those of us from and living in Elyria, Ohio how great our jewel, Cascade Park, is and why we should appreciate it. We hope to keep this site running with new seasonal photos and information as it is posted.
Feel free to voice your concerns to Elected Officials and demand they honor this jewel.

A recent photo of Cascade Park sent to us by a concerned area resident. Trying to figure out why the natural beauty is going to be replaced by a studio planned version, and who made that decision. To orient yourself, the former sled riding hill is on the far left and it looks like the photographer was at the top of the hillside at the road, taking the photo through what used to be a very heavily forested area above the former picnic pavilion. The former playground area with the slides is at the far right.

Obviously the reviews of what's been done are quite mixed. Some are concerned that since all vehicle traffic has been eliminated from the North end, and only about 20 parking spots were created, that this area will eventually become a crime laden no-go zone. Thoughts?
Update from Community Meeting in Elyria. Pdf maps attached to newspaper article. Look at the attached maps. Automobiles will be forever more prohibited on the north end and the Ford will never again allow cars across. Poor planning by MetroParks. It's beginning to look like none of them ever set foot in the park prior to getting "the keys". http://www.chroniclet.com/news/2015/10/21/Metro-Parks-unveils-Cascade-plan.html
The "Hill" from five years ago....
What do you think? Will the Park still have any of its original raw beauty when complete or will mankind's footprints be all over it? Is this a good thing? Or over development? http://www.chroniclet.com/Local-News/2017/01/13/County-Metro-Parks-announces-start-of-Cascade-project.html
