Dunmore is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, adjoining Scranton. Dunmore is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, adjoining Scranton. Dunmore was settled in 1835 and incorporated in 1862. Extensive anthracite coal, brick, stone, and silk interests had led to a rapid increase in the population to 8,315 in 1890, 12,583 in 1900, 17,615 in 1910, 20,250 in 1920, and 23,086 in 1940. The population was 14,057 at the 2010 census.

Dunmore contains several schools: Dunmore High School, Holy Cross High School formerly known as Bishop O'Hara, and Saint Mary's of Mount Carmel Elementary School.

Conveniently located 2 1/2 hours from Philadelphia, 3 hours from New York City, 4 hours from Washington, and less than an hour from the Pocono Mountains. Interstate 81 as well as Interstates 380 and 84 are easily accessible from the borough. The Keystone Industrial Park is also located in Dunmore.

A spokesperson for Pennsylvania American Water said that repairs were completed this evening at the plant on Mill Street in Dunmore. Water service should be back for all customers by Sunday morning. The boil advisory will remain in effect until further notice.

Pennsylvania American Water crews are working to repair the broken water main. Customers might experience no water service or low pressure until repairs are completed The current estimate is that repairs could take approximately 24 hours to complete. Pennsylvania American Water will collect and analyze additional water quality samples including bacteria samples. We will inform you when the corrective actions have been completed and you no longer need to boil your water.
