facebook.comMs. Menno has been busy getting the new first-grade classroom ready for the school year. How are you preparing for back to school?
Enjoy a scenic, family friendly, USATF certified course which takes you through the beautiful, tree-lined streets of Drexel Park. There will be a water stop midway through the course, refreshments and awards following the race. There is also a one-mile fun run for kids with medals to all participants! The first 100 registrants will receive a cotton T-shirt. Register today! The pre-registration fee is $20 for the 5K and $10 for the one-mile fun run. All proceeds will benefit Holy Child Academy athletic programs. Onsite registration also will be available at 7:30 a.m. on 9/23.

It certainly has been an active and exciting summer at HCA. Last week we held a farewell party for campers and their families. While it's always hard to say goodbye to campers, we'll be saying hello to many of them when school begins on Sept. 6.

Bravo to the students who participated in the Theatre Intensive Camp Week with Nate Golden. They worked together to create their very own original musical about recycling. The week culminated in a premiere performance for families and campers.

Mrs. DeLuca, fifth-grade homeroom and Spanish teacher, will have many summer vacation stories to share with her students when school starts in a few weeks. She traveled to Barcelona, Madrid, Sevilla and Tarragona – places she enjoyed when she lived in Spain working as a bilingual teacher. Where did HCA families travel over the summer? Fourth-grade teacher Gary St. Cyr donated a day on the Delaware River for the 2017 HCA Auction. The Zhang/Dong family recently enjoyed their prize, a ride on St. Cyr’s boat and lunch dockside at an open-air restaurant. Thank you to the Zhang/Dong family, who supported HCA by bidding on this package. We are grateful to everyone who made the auction a success. Mark your calendars for the 2018 HCA Auction: Feb. 24.
