My wife, Peggy, wrote an article not long ago about the loss of our son, Donald. I’d like to share my side of the story. It changed our lives in so many ways and, hopefully, sharing what happened to us can help other families who are dealing with substance use disorders. http://bit.ly/2xqrofe
Thanks to Angels In Motion for helping us put together over 200 Blessing Bags and for letting a few of our team members come along to hand them out. Overall, an incredibly powerful and moving experience where we were fortunate enough to witness the generosity of people helping others, first-hand.
A moving tribute from Newtown, PA Patch: Families of loved ones in Pennsylvania whose lives were lost to overdoses in 2017 use their obituaries to share powerful stories meant to warn others & break the stigma associated with #opioid abuse. Please share this article to help spread the message. If you or anyone you know is struggling with addiction or alcoholism, help is available. #brownandwhite http://bit.ly/2xUDpNP
Article from SAMHSA suggest a major issue with adequate access to treatment for substance use disorders. According to a recent study: out of 19.9 million adults needing substance use treatment, only 10.8 percent received treatment at a specialty facility (2.1 million). That means that about 17.7 million adults who needed treatment did not receive treatment at a specialty facility for their substance use. An important reminder for our industry partners, community members, lawmakers, and insurance companies that we MUST continue to fight for expanded access to treatment for all individuals who need it. http://bit.ly/2xVkXom
