Jail Tours, paranormal tours, haunted house, parties The Old Jail and Sheriff's House was built in 1882. Known for John Dillinger's escape in 1934 and filming for the movie Public Enemies with Johnny Depp in 2008. The Jail and House are owned by the Sheriff's House Foundation and undergoing continuous restoration. Open to the public for jail tours and posted dates for paranormal tours.

facebook.comOur team at the old jail were able to head out to the Midwest Haunters Convention in Columbus Ohio and met some great people and saw some awesome stuff ! Last year our haunted house did so well we are currently restoring the kitchen in the old jail to look as it did when John Dillinger escaped in 1934. We have police photos we are following. We are so grateful to all who volunteered, all who came and all who support the Sheriff's House Foundation ! Come by for a tour and see the progress of the kitchen and be ready for October ! We are going to strive to be bigger and better to make you love Halloween as we do ! Thanks to all who support the preservation and restoration of Crown Point's very own historical landmark !

Did you know we have weddings in the old jail ? Pretty cool huh ? :)
The Old Lake County Jail shut down in 1973. It stayed open as offices for awhile longer but all inmates were transfered to the 'new jail'. I came to the jail in 2009 for a tour and never really left. I started cleaning in the upper cellblocks that hadn't been touched since the inmates left. I want to share with you something I found. History is amazing ! What do you think ?
