Soon To Be Crestwood, Mo. Gourmet Ice Cream Parlor. Wild Flavors - Wild Decor - Set To A Rock 'N Roll Theme. THROW UP THE HORNS!
Coming Soon... Heavy Metal Ice Cream aims to be open for business in a brick and mortar storefront by 2018. We are certainly not the first in The Lou to specialize in Gourmet Ice Cream, but we are certainly the boldest and loudest.

Heavy Metal Ice Cream, summed up, will serve gourmet Ice Cream with only the freshest local ingredients and organic when possible. Our aim is to open a Rock and Metal themed Ice Cream parlor that serves flavors that range from traditional, to wild, to savory, to downright mind blowing and adventurous.

The concept was originated by Jay Smith, Crestwood resident, Ice Cream lover and local guitar player - along with his daughter - 11 year old entrepreneur and ice cream aficionado, Chloe Smith.

Our eventual storefront, when you enter, will be decked out with everything Rock 'N Roll related from past decades to now. Rolling Stone Magazine covers, Autographs, Guitars on the walls, acrylic table tops encasing various guitar pics and backstage passes acquired over the years. Everything about us screams ROCK. But we're not narrow minded. If it was rebellious and inspired youth to be themselves at any point in the last 50-60 years, you'll hear it playing in our shop. Our playlist can switch from Slayer to The Ramones to Elvis to NWA to The New York Dolls to Prince to KISS.

Our flavors range from 3 distinct categories.

- Classic Rock for more traditional flavors
- Glam rock for more indulgent and decadent flavors
- Heavy Metal for everything from savory to spicy to liquor infused selections (We'll need to obtain a permit for that first.)

Our business plan runs in 3 phases, currently in phase 1.
- Phase 1 = Acquire basic kitchen materials such as a top of the line non-commercial ice cream maker, various kitchen supplies, and stock up on ingredients. In this phase we spend 6-10 months concocting our various flavors after first perfecting our perfect vanilla, sweet scream, Ice Cream base. At this point it will be tested among friends and family to see what flies and what doesn't make the cut. In this phase we will not be allowed to sell our product. We also use this phase to secure legal advice, our official trademarking process, and have 3 sessions with a business planning firm.
This will require our first of 3 IndieGoGo.com campaigns.

- Phase 2 = Rental of a Culinary Incubator. (A building with multiple commercial kitchens that have already passed inspection and rent their space by the hour or day to chefs learning the ropes and perfecting their methods.) At this point after being given the ok by the Mo. Dept. Of Health, we can begin selling and shipping in small batches for minor profits and begin "catching a buzz" around town and building anticipation and a fan base. These kitchens can range in price from $20 an hour to $200 per day. Many, MANY days will be required and that adds up. This will require a 2nd IndieGoGo.com campaign

Both Sea Salt Caramel Apple AND STL Style Gooey Butter Cake were a smashing success as The Polys family will attest! We'd like to thank Mary Bogacki at the AMAZING new Crestwood breakfast and brunch eatery, Yolklore, for partnering with us on this flavor and donating quite literally THE BEST Gooey Butter cake STL has to offer. I know that's a controversial claim to make so do yourself a favor and go find out for yourself. It's AMAZING and when crumbled into our tart, sharp, but sweet Cream Cheese Base Ice Cream - Heaven Emerges! Thanks Matthew and Rebecca for being our first testers of these 2 awesome new flavors. It sounds like you managed fine. ;) Shoot us those selfies with the fam, and the t-shirt as soon as you can!

It's Trivia Tuesday – Tribute Band Edition!!! Who's ready to play for a free Heavy Metal Ice Cream T-Shirt?! Let's go! In the 2001 movie ______________________, ______________________ played a singer named Chris “Izzy” Cole in a band that was a tribute to fictional band Steel Dragon. The tribute band was named ______________________. Both Steel Dragon AND that tribute band contained actors in the movie who were musicians in real life. In Steel Dragon, the 2 guitarists real life names were ______________________ & ______________________ who played together in real life metal band ______________________. What real life musician played Donny Johnson in the tribute band, ______________________ and what band is he famous for being an original drummer of ______________________? The drummer for Steel Dragon was played by ______________________, son of legendary drummer ______________________ of what legendary band ______________________? The movie is a nod to a real life situation where a tribute band singer went on to take over lead vocals for a period and live his dream. ______________________ is the singer who took over for ______________________ in legendary metal band ______________________. In 1993 the original singer of that last mentioned legendary metal band went on to form his own metal band called ______________________. The lead guitar player for this new band is named ______________________, who goes by the nickname ______________________ in current comedy / tribute to The Sunset Strip era band, ironically named ______________________. Sea Salt Caramel was a smashing success and our favorite flavor yet. The texture and creaminess was so spot on that we are using the base measurements of egg yolks, cream, and milk for almost all recipes going forward. And we have some fans to back it up!

Making this collage was even more satisfying than we thought it would be. It's enormously humbling to see the love and encouragement that we've gotten through donations and contest participants who believe in us! And there are even more not pictured who are maybe a little camera shy or just plain super busy. We get it! What you see here are not just our awesome 1st supporters, but people from all 4 corners of the country as well as hometown. People whose ages range from 6-72. Thanks for the encouragement, interest, and generous donations! This is definitely getting framed and hung on our office wall....until it can be moved someday soon to forever hang in Heavy Metal Ice Cream's Wall Of Fame in the parlor. Thank you ALL, pictured and not! Chloe & Jay

Strawberry Fields Forever - Heavy Metal Ice Cream

Super proud to make this post! As you can see in the video, Chloe is more than just a super cute kid doing "spokesperson" stuff. Our 3rd recipe batch of "Strawberry Fields Forever" was prepared 100% by her. If it was sliced, roasted, glazed, simmered, tempered, churned, mixed in, or packaged (all of the above) it was done by Chloe. She has proven to be 100% all in on this venture from day 1, but yesterday she backed those words up and enthusiastically at that. Dad can take no credit for how amazing this flavor turned out... other than the 2 hours of combined cleanup and video editing. "Strawberry Fields Forever" - Flavor 003 - Classic Rock Menu. Fresh Strawberries rolled in Raw Sugar and drizzled with locally farmed Raw Honey and a healthy drizzle of Balsamic Vinegar. Roasted to perfection and blended into our sweet custard base. The flavors marry overnight in the fridge and the next day churn to perfection in the Ice Cream maker. Chopped berries are added at the end of the churn process and this is the result. ENJOY! https://youtu.be/LEXvi9GGZlk
