City of Clawson, Michigan
Description
City of Clawson: The Little City with a Big Heart, City Hall Hours are 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday Closed Fridays The City of Clawson is a small residential community located just north of Detroit and about one mile west of the Chrysler (I-75) expressway. This fully-developed community is 2.2 square miles in area and is bounded by the cities of Troy, Royal Oak, and Madison Heights. Clawson was incorporated as a home rule city in 1940. It is recognized as a progressive community with stable government and excellent services. Volunteers and service clubs play an active role in promoting the community throughout the year with various activities including one of the largest week-long 4th of July celebrations in Michigan.
Exploring Clawson by foot is an easy and comfortable stroll or better yet following the well directed bike path with a friend will take you through quiet neighborhoods and to many points of interest. A large, wonderfully appointed city park may be the highlight of your bike ride. There are plenty of picnic spots with tables and barbeque grills. An exercise path winds through the park by tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, shuffle board lanes and swinging chairs built for two (or three). Nearby is the football field and track along with baseball and soccer fields.
The downtown area offers a variety of small shops and restaurants. Oakland Mall and the up-scale Somerset Place are just minutes away. Clawson combines small town amenities with convenient access to big city events. According to the most recent estimates, there are approximately 12,000 persons living in Clawson, a density of ten persons per acre. The city experienced its most significant growth during the years of 1950 through 1960. This is also the period during which a large portion of the city’s existing housing was constructed.

Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive | Washington, D.C. | Home
The 25th annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive is on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Please help out a great cause and just set out your non-perishable food well before your letter carrier’s normal pick-up time. The earlier the better! Note that he or she will be delivering and collecting mail as usual, on top of collecting food donations, so that pickup time could be slightly later than usual. Your letter carrier might also have helpers. A good rule of thumb is to have the bags by your mailbox by 9 a.m. http://www.stampouthungerfooddrive.us/
