Each year, on the first Friday in February, national "Wear Red Day" is recognized by millions of women and men who come together to wear red, take action and commit to fighting cardiovascular disease in women. The Spaulding Rehabilitation Network and Partners HealthCare at Home proudly support these efforts and encouraged all Spaulding staff staff to wear red today as we joined to #GoRedforWomen. Spaulding with one of the largest stroke rehabilitation programs in the country is honored to have supported so many stroke survivors find their strength. Cardio-vascular disease (including stroke) is one of the leading causes of death and disability for all adults. Many of these deaths can be prevented but many people do not recognize the symptoms before it is too late – this is why this disease is called the silent killer, especially among women. Go Red For Women is a passionate, emotional, social initiative designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health. It challenges women to know their risk for heart disease and use the tools that Go Red For Women provides to take action to reduce their personal risk.
