// MURPH AT THE FIT // See you Monday to honor this true American Hero. — Michael Patrick "Murph" Murphy (7 May 1976 – 28 June 2005) was a United States Navy SEAL officer who was awarded the U.S. military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions during the War in Afghanistan. — Murphy was killed on 28 June 2005 after he left his cover position and went to a clearing away from the mountains, exposing himself to a hail of gunfire in order to get a clear signal to contact headquarters for relaying the dire situation and requesting immediate support for his team. He dropped the satellite phone after being shot multiple times but picked the phone back up and finished the call. While being shot, he signed off saying - "Thank You", then continued fighting from his exposed position until he died from his wounds. — On 4 July 2005, Murphy's remains were found by a group of American soldiers during a combat search and rescue operation and returned to the United States. #featuredmemberfriday 💥Samantha Romo💥 “I was always active as a kid, but never really involved in competitive sports. The reality was simple - I had never been physically challenged! Fortunately, this never played much of a factor as I was always thin growing up. However my so called reality was flipped upside down after I had my second child. It was extremely difficult getting back into shape. I truly felt uncomfortable in my own skin. . My husband encouraged me to join a gym and try to be more active. I took the easy way out and joined the closest gym I could find. I went… occasionally. My idea of a fierce workout was a brisk walk on the treadmill, 3 sets of abs and then head out for coffee. . A friend suggested I give Fit Society a shot. I was nervous at first; how could I ever compete with this group?! I finally caved. I signed up and geared up for my initial workout! It went great! But I realized how badly I need to make a change to my workout routine when I felt like I was dying only after the warmup. . I have been with FS for 2 years and it was the best decision I could have ever made. Not only is it a family environment with amazing coaches and friends; it gives me the motivation every day to want to be better. Coach Rachel has challenged me to even greater heights in our weekly barbell classes. . Thank you to the FS family for welcoming me in, and then kicking my butt every week!”
