     Founded in 1900 as the Montana School of Mines, Montana Tech now boasts four schools and colleges offering degree programs at the Ph.D., masters, bachelor, associate and certificate level. Montana Tech is one of only two U.S. schools to offer a B.S. degree in geophysical engineering, one of ten to offer a B.S. degree in metallurgical engineering, one of nineteen that offer a B.S. degree in mining engineering and one of only 20 to offer a B.S. in petroleum engineering. Montana Tech also offers a Ph.D. in Materials Science.

     Located in historic Butte, Montana, the campus is surrounded by a vibrant community with a rich history and culture. Conveniently located near two interstates, Butte’s backyard also offers easy access to some of the most exceptional outdoor recreation opportunities in the West.
