Last weekend, the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus presented JoAnn Falletta with the Jessamyne Long Award. This award is given only when a worthy recipient is identified. JoAnn received this for her ardent support of choral music. Congratulations, JoAnn!

BPO trombonist Tim Smith put together a consortium of twelve middle school bands to commission a work for solo trombone and wind ensemble from composer Viet Cuong. This project bore fruit last week when he performed the work's premiere with Casey Middle School (incorrectly identified as Mill Middle earlier).
It's hard to even estimate how many people were onstage making Carmina Burana this weekend: the full orchestra, the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus, Buffalo Girlchoir, and our vocal soloists. It's even more impressive that JoAnn Falletta conducted it all without a score!
