Art Journaling this Friday, August 9 from 4 to 6pm. Never fear, I don't expect you to draw like this, I'll have some simpler shapes for you to sketch or trace! Seed pods have always fascinated me. They are often very geometric and very alien-looking. Some are full of hundreds of seeds. Not all will sprout. But a few select ones will and those could become an adult plant. We all have hidden potential inside. Sometimes you know what it is and other times you have no clue. What do you wish to nurture and nourish for it to become reality? This can be physical; for example a house, a certain job, a raise, healthier eating, etc. Or it can be spiritual or emotional; a greater awareness or understanding in a certain area of your life. A different (healthier) reaction to reoccurring situations. Potential. It's there. But it's not reality. (Yet!) We will use pencil, pen, paper ephemera, watercolors, stencils, and acrylic paint. $20 and all supplies included. Reply or message if you want in! Plenty of room so far!

Books Are Beautiful Art Camp Ages 8 and up Mon. Wed. Fri. August 12, 14, and 16 9 to Noon $120 Making your very own book from start to finish is nothing short of magical. We will be making an accordion book, a Japanese stab-bound book, and a spiral bound book. We will make art INSIDE all of our books too and carve a few rubber stamps. Art Journaling (every 2nd and 4th Friday of each month) is much more than achieving a finished piece of art. It's about getting lost in the creative process, connecting with other artists, and sorting out life's problems on a journal page. I've been teaching this for three years and counting. What a fantastic journaling journey!!!

The end of another assemblage camp. This wasn't my quietest camp but it may have been the most creative. These kids are awesome. Each child made one large structure, a trophy, a hanging collage, and some spin art. Check out their hard work and happy faces!

BARBIE ART JOURNALING!!! This Friday, June 28th from 4 to 6pm, we will be creating a runway-of-sorts in our art journals. Barbie, the iconic American presence, means so many different things to different people. The unattainable female body representation, with a waistline so tiny it could barely pass a poop, was just so damn fun to dress!!!! Learn how to "tip in" a folded page in your journal, giving you a long "runway." Each student will get three glossy Barbie photos! We will get messy with lots of mixed media yumminess!! $20 and all supplies included. Message to reserve a spot, they are filling fast!

ART JOURNALING APRIL 26th 4:00-6:00pm This Friday from 4 to 6pm we will be art journaling a map of our lives. This is hands down one of my all-time favorite art journaling prompts. Maps are beautiful, often complex, and follow few compositional rules- often like our lives. Your map will be an abstraction of your life, possibly the whole thing or maybe just a segment of your journey. Your map can take place in the past, present, and/or future. Think about streets or roads being like little timelines and consider buildings or landforms to represent events or feelings. Your map can show a small moment, a long time period, future hopes or dreams, or it could be totally made up! $20 and all supplies included. Message if you'd like to join!

There are still a couple spots left for tomorrow's Mixed Media Art Journaling workshop. Friday April 12th from 4 to 6pm at the studio we will use crackle paste, ink, watercolor, Micron pens and more to create a chaotic scene involving change and more change and possibly impending change. $20 and all supplies included, just bring your art journal!
