Press Release: Bristol Borough Council President, Ralph DiGuiseppe would like to announce that construction on the much anticipated Bristol Borough Day Docks and Access Pier is set to begin on Monday, January 30" 2017. Simpson and Brown, the General Contractor, will begin the construction with the mobilization of a crane barge which will be in place for much of the duration of the project. The crane barge is scheduled to arrive Monday morning, January 30,2017. Once the barge is in place, the first activity will be to set locations for the piles which will support an 80 foot fixed pier that will connect to the existing wharf. Two gangways from the fixed pier will connect to 250 foot long floating docks to accommodate approximately 25 boats. The floating docks will be fabricated off site and shipped in sections to be assembled directly on the River due to their size. Construction is slated to be complete by June of this year. Bristol Borough Council, Bucks County Commissioners, and State officials have worked tirelessly since the project's inception in 2010 to locate funding for the three million dollar project. Ultimately, funding was secured from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service through U.S. Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick, the Bucks County Open Space program, Senator Tomlinson and Representative Galloway, as well as a private donation from the Grundy Foundation. Council President, Ralph DiGuiseppe, said this is an exciting time in Historic Bristol Borough and is another positive step in the revitalization of the Borough.
