#2018 is the third international #YearOfTheReef. #ClimateChange and pollution are just a couple of factors that are affecting the health of coral reefs around the world. Learn more: #IYOR #SciEd #UCARSciEd

Mount Sinabung, one of Indonesia’ most active volcanoes, erupted on Monday (Feb. 19) producing massive columns of ash. To learn about how volcanic eruptions influence #climate, read the #UCARSciEd article:

Mark your calendars to watch the #NASA Virtual Appearance ‘Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day’ webcast for all educators and students: February 22, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. EST. #repost The GLOBE Program

A #volcano on Indonesia’s Sumatra island erupted yesterday, covering local villages in ash. It was reported that this eruption will not affect climate. So, when does an eruption impact climate? Measuring the Climate Effects of Volcanic Eruptions:

As #LoveDataWeek comes to a close, we're sharing one more #data activity! In the #UCARSciEd Exploring Paleoclimate Data activity, students investigate Oxygen-18 data from ice cores used to investigate past #climate. Thanks for following along with us this week! And be sure to check out the rest of UCARSciEd's classroom activities! #LoveData18

UCAR is partnering with Expanding Your Horizons, a conference dedicated to motivating young women in math and science, for the 23rd Annual Conference for girls in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades! Join a group of motivated young women and High Altitude Observatory - HAO scientist, Astrid Maute, to learn about careers involving engineering, math, science, and technology through a day of hands-on workshops at the University of Colorado Boulder Engineering Center. Date: February 24, 2018 Time: 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM Scholarships are available! Learn more and apply with the link below. #SciEd #UCARSciEd #WomenInSTEM

"The more types of data that are made available, the higher the possibility that someone can create a compelling story by using data." - Sophie Hou, Data Curation & Stewardship Coordinator at UCAR. #LoveData18 #DataStories

#LoveData18 With the Weather and Climate Data Exploration classroom activity, students explore the relationship between weather and climate by graphing real temperature data. #datastories #climate #climatechange #valentinesday #lovedata

GLOBE Data Explorations are classroom activities developed by #UCARSciEd to help students learn how to analyze The GLOBE Program data while also learning atmospheric science. Come explore with us! #lovedata18 #SciEd #classroomactivities

February 12-16 is Love Data Week! And, believe us, #UCARSciEd loves data. We especially love seeing the stories that arise out of it. In March of last year, a #UCARSciEd staff member was finishing up a data touchscreen slated for installation in the new air quality exhibit at the #MesaLab in Boulder. What she found in the data told the frightening story of a nearby wildfire and the resulting poor air quality. Read More: #lovedata18 #AirQuality #wildfire #NCAR

"Watching a bubble float effortlessly through the International Space Station may be mesmerizing and beautiful, but that same bubble is also teaching researchers about how fluids behave differently in microgravity. See how:" - NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration #SciEd
