The “Nexus Structure” which made up the Audi Booth at CES 2016 is a 60ft Wide x 80ft Long x 24ft tall structure comprised of thousands of 80cm long aluminum components connected at nodes in a 3 dimensional labyrinth. The larger the structure becomes the harder it is to access the interior of the structure. Most of the structure is completely inaccessible by machinery such as boom or scissor lift’s. THiNC was contracted by our German clients, Expotechnik and Deutschewerbewelt, to facilitate a complete solution for fall prevention and fall recovery of riggers and electricians while working on the Nexus. Limpets were the perfect tool to assist workers in efficiently accessing the inner parts of the Nexus. Workers where attached to traditional horizontal life lines while working on the top level of the Nexus. Limpets provided the fall recovery solution should there have been a need to rescue a worker from deep inside the Nexus structure. This was a very unique scenic design which required some creative thinking from all sides, including our friends Patrick Shepard and Keenan Jung of Nth Degree (thanks for the referral!) and THiNC’s Heidi Gonzalez, the lead on the project. Nice work Team!
