Description
Berkley's Backyard Playroom is a public indoor play-space geared for children under 5 offering weekly drop-in & play times. Drop In & Play: Every Tuesday and Friday 10am-Noon (Our Summer hours are from Memorial Day to Labor Day)
We offer a place for parents to take a breath, connect with one another, and enjoy watching their young children learn and grow through imaginative play. Come and go as you please!
Parents can recharge with fair-trade coffee and healthy snacks are available for the kids. Our Drop-In & Play program is FREE to the community and the coffee and snacks are reasonably priced.
Once a month we will offer a special event like Music & Rhythm Day, Big Boxes Day, Parent & Child Yoga day, etc.
Drop In & Go: It's tough to get things done with a little one in tow. One Saturday a month we will offer a 2-hour block of time when you can drop off your child to run errands, get in a nice dinner at a restaurant, or just relax. Parents must leave detailed emergency information and check-in/check-out must be made by the same guardian. Drop In & Go cost: $10
Location: 2119 Catalpa, Berkley inside Cana Lutheran Church, next-door to the Berkley Highschool. Our play room is best enjoyed by children under 5.

We will be using paint, markers, paper, cloth, stickers, etc. Ages 1 to 10 welcome to create in the lounge, and the playroom will be open for ages 5 and under. Miniature furniture and paint provided. Feel free to bring own scissors, stickers, paper, cloth, etc; plenty of these supplies will be available as well. Free event.
Volunteer Hosts Needed!!! Thanks to our generous hosts, we are able to provide free Drop-In and Play events twice a week! **REMINDER **The Backyard Playroom will be closed on December 26. Happy Holidays!
Backyard Playroom is participating in the Diaper Drive for Judson Center! You can find the bin next to the piano in the lounge when you check in. Open packs of diapers are welcome, so please feel free to bring any that your children have outgrown. They will be distributed to families in need through caseworkers at Judson Center. Thank you!
FYI: Backyard Playroom will be CLOSED this Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. We hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday, and we will see you again next week!

Congratulations and Happy Birthday to Backyard Playroom, which turns 1 year old today!!! Help us celebrate by commenting on this post and making a commitment to host an upcoming Drop-In and Play Event. These are always free because of the amazing volunteers who set up, welcome new guests, and tidy up at the end. And we need YOU to help Backyard Playroom have another great year, full of fun free events for our community!
Backyard Playroom, WHIRL, STAGE Youth, and MOMS Club of Berkley will co-host this special Sunday event in the parking lot next to Cana Lutheran Church. Volunteers will pass out candy and allergy-friendly treats to all kids in costume. There will also be an outdoor bounce house (so bring socks!), and the Playroom will be open. The event will be free, and donations of school supplies for Berkley Youth Assistance will be greatly appreciated.
With the cooler seasons come longer open hours at the Backyard Playroom! Come and play anytime Tuesday and Friday from 9:30A to Noon. PS. We made the observation that when the place is really hopping there is a shortage of places to put shoes, jackets, bags etc. Our first set of cubbies were put together this week so you'll have a space for all your gear. Special thanks to Dorothy Griffin for applying for the Thrivent Action Team grant which made these possible!
