Our seas have become a plastic graveyard - but can technology turn the tide?
"Not only is the floating haze of scum unsightly, it is also swallowed by marine animals that cannot digest it. Chemicals leach into the water, and it has been shown that even humans who eat seafood ingest 11,000 pieces of microplastic each year." Ever wonder why #RecyclingMatters? This article gives a great summary on plastics in our ocean. Thanks for doing your part! #Recycle #CloseTheLoop #KeepItInTheSystem http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2017/02/11/seas-have-become-plastic-graveyard-can-technology-turn-tide/

#foodwaste reduction tip of the day: "Shop your kitchen" Many times we'll buy all of the ingredients to a recipe and find we already had it in our cupboards. Double buying increases the chance of food expiring and leads to increased food waste and wasted $$$. After making the ingredient list, check your kitchen to see which ingredients you already have. It's that simple. Join us every Thursday for more tips to decrease your waste and increase money $$$ in your pocket. #shopping #lovefoodhatewaste #makeitrain

Did you enjoy the life of the strawberry? 40% of produced food wasted in the US is an appalling statistic. Here's a simple way to do your part to lower that number: "Eat Me First" Box Designate a shelf in your fridge for the older food, and clearly label it. This will remind you to eat these foods before they expire and cut down on wasted food and money. #lovefood #hatewaste #savings
