Call for Artists! Join our "The Painted Chair" Event! Read all about this fun chair painting competition designed to promote collaboration and supply our new 'soon to open' Art Studio with beautiful hand painted chairs! Share away, this is an open call for artists/crafters. And mark your calendar to attend our June 1st Friday Event :)
Call for Artists for The Painted Chair Event
This is an open call to Bemidji Area Artists and Crafty People who would like to apply for one of 6 positions to Paint a Chair for Charity. The Painted Chair Event is a collaborative art event, where 10 local artists/crafters will compete to win a fun gift card from The Least of These by painting one of our chairs for our art center, (4 chairs have been claimed, we have 6 left!). If you do not get chosen as one of the artists for the 6 chairs, you are invited to donate and paint a chair of your own - keeping in mind that the use will be for our artist patrons in an art studio. The goal: To furnish our charitable art studio with awesome, artistic seating :) The rules: The only rules we have are that you must include either the color red or turquiose (or both) in your chair color scheme and that the technique you use will stand up to heavy use and is non-toxic. Feel free to re-upholster the chair pad (they come off super easy!) To process: Apply by sending us a message @ The Least of These, and tell us a little about yourself and why we should chose you (short and sweet)! It's all in fun, and our little team will pick the artists for the 6 chairs we have and invite the remaining applicants to provide your own chairs to paint and donate if you so chose! Announcements will be made on Thursday May 11th, applications close at 5pm on Wed May 10th. The 6 chosen will need to pick up your chairs by 5 pm on May 17th and all artists must turn in the painted chairs by 5 pm May 31st. (That gives you at least two weeks!) We will present the chairs at our JUNE FIRST FRIDAY ART & ACOUSTICS EVENT, where the public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite chair! The first place winner will receive a $25 gift certificate for The Least of These, second and third places will also receive a prize (YAY!). Questions, just send us a message!
