Today was a great day at the arena! Sarah Colvin and her daughter Alley did remarkably during their lesson! The sense of accomplishment in teaching new riders to enjoy and understand the interaction between rider and mount seems to energize the barn and all who join in the fun! Can't wait until next time!

Here's and introduction to what I refer to as the heart of CAIR Arena, the wonderful children who make this place what it is. Rose is our youngest rider at three years of age. She rides Goldie, an 18 year old percheron/QH cross. Goldie was a prison guard horse and she really takes care of her little rider! Mia is the oldest in the CAIR Arena heart. She is 13 and loves the spirit and fire of her mount, Shadow. Mia is my go to girl for leg up routines, and reining practice. Isolde (sunny) is our intermediate ride. She has come a long way to be only 6 years of age. She already understands the mechanis of foot queing and the methods used to promote faster and more willing bit response from her mount, Ginger. Isolde has progressed through riding 5 different horses in her short years on the horse journey and rides with confidence. Chloe Norris is an integral part of the heart of CAIR Arena. At ten years of age she bring a wealth of horse knowledge and hands on know-how to the table. She is a mini horsewoman and equine trainner! She is always will of offer advise to fellow kids and man can she ride!

Well by Cade's 4th lesson, he got to take his first free (trail) ride. The lesson included mechanics of saddling up, speed transition control, leading, and bathing.

The basics of horsemanship, ground training, desensitization, and reining are core fundamentals that we constantly revisit here at the arena. This practice was a combination of desensitizing and trust building, but you know what all in all just making it fun is the key to enthusiastic riders and focused horses! Becky Bayless-Hardin
