Description
The Bantam Fire Company provides Fire Suppression, Rescue Services, and Emergency Medical Services to the residents of the Borough of Bantam and it's surrounding neighborhoods in the town of Litchfield, CT The Bantam Fire Company covers as far west to Mt Tom (Washington town-line), north to Page Road (Cornwall town-line) and Hemlock Hill Road (Goshen town-line), east to Brush Hill Road and Bissell Road (Litchfield town-line) and south to Route 109 (Morris town-line). The Bantam Fire Company also provides Mutual Aid for other fire departments in the following towns: Litchfield, Morris, East Litchfield, Northfield, Cornwall, Goshen, Washington, and when needed, Warren.

Bantam, Litchfield, and East Litchfield Fire all participated in a large Ice/Cold water rescue drill this morning. We practiced removing a victim from open water to shore. This required the use of 7 cold water suits and 2200' of rescue rope. The victim was approx 1000' off shore.

The BFD has purchased a new gas detector to add to our repertoire. This meter is more sensitive than some of our existing meters and will allow us to detect the presence of combustible, non-combustible, and toxic gases.

The BFD has received a pet oxygen mask kit courtesy of Shipman's Fire Equipment Co. These masks will be located on E36 with our medical bag and will be useful should we ever rescue any of our four legged friends!!!🐕🐩🐈
Bantam R38 responded along with LFD E2, R5, and LVA to a very serious MVA on Rt. 118 this morning. It's reported that this was a fatal accident. BFD A39 also responded to a third EMS call in Litchfield during this time. E36 also responded to an Automatic Fire Alarm this evening.
