Making Disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world! All are welcome at Bainbridge First United Methodist Church. When you come to visit our congregation, we suggest that you come on a Sunday morning for one of our worship services. Plan on parking on the south side of the church (across Shotwell St.) or the North side of church (at the corner of Troup and Florida). Enter the church at any door, the majority of which will have greeters who can show you important things (the sanctuary, nursery, bathrooms, etc).
In worship:
Traditional Worship is extremely peaceful with superb music each Sunday. Songs are sung from the United Methodist Hymnbook with a variety of creeds, responsive readings, and creative dramas.
Contemporary Worship is heartfelt and usually pretty upbeat with raised hands and often closed eyes. Songs are sung with a computer/projector on a screen with frequent uses of audio, video, drama, and using objects in worship (rocks, nails, etc).

facebook.comWe just completed Early Response Team Training under the leadership of Rev. Rick Hamilton. We had sixteen people for the training--eight from BFUMC. There were four pastors in attendance. Thanks to Steven Hayes for spearheading the effort and for handling administrative details; to Lauren Turner for hospitality; and Deborah Jones for a delicious lunch!
Nineteen people were part of our next-to-last session on the Gospel According to Matthew before our break for the summer. You can still join us on Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m. in Reynolds Chapel!

Thirteen faithful and hearty souls joined in our long-running study of the Gospel of Matthew last night. We have only two more Wednesday nights before we break for the summer, but you can still join us at 6:45 p.m. in Reynolds Chapel!
A memorial service for Addison Kate White, granddaughter of Paul and Ginger Johnson, will be held Saturday, May 6, at 11:00 a,m, CDT at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Enterprise, AL, Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to DIPG Research at www.thecurestartsnow. org for Mobile, AL.
Visitation for Nelson Westbrooks will be Monday, May 1, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. The funeral will be Tuesday, May 2, at 3:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church with private interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Whigham.
We express our Christian love and sympathy to Hazel Westbrooks and family in the death of her husband, Nelson Westbrooks, who passed away this afternoon. Funeral arrangements are pending.
Don't forget our Fifth Sunday Unity Service tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary. No 9:00 a.m. service tomorrow. Following worship we will share in our Fellowship Luncheon--the church will provide fried chicken and drinks; please bring side dishes and desserts!
We just received word that Addy Kate White, Paul and Ginger Johnson's granddaughter, has passed away. Also, please be in prayer for Nelson and Hazel Westbrooks--Nelson is transitioning from this life to the life to come.
The numbers at our study of the Gospel According to Matthew were off a little bit, but we still had really good discussion (aas we always do!). We probably won't finish our study before we break for the summer (only three Wednesday nights left), but you can still join us on Wednesday evenings at 6:45 p.m. in Reynolds Chapel!
