The Bainbridge Island Metro Park and Rec District currently maintains over 32 miles of multi-use recreational trails. The Bainbridge Island Metro Park and Recreation District (District) currently maintains over 32 miles of trail and utilizes a maintenance standard system to determine all maintenance needs for each trail or trail section on District property.  

The District utilizes a citizen’s advisory committee in the planning, construction, and maintenance of our extensive trail system.  The Trails Advisory Committee meets monthly to determine work party locations and discuss trail management issues.

Trails represent a key element to Bainbridge Islander’s lives and we have partnered with many of our trail users by creating a Trail Steward Program.  The Trail Stewards report trail related issues such as erosion, trail blockages, damage to the trail, muddy conditions, and more so our staff can deal with trail issues in a timely manner.
