Come out this evening and congratulate Shelbi Vaughan.

The Azle Community Champion Award. It is to be given out quarterly to a local person who has done something outstanding. The winner gets a little ceremony, trophy and free meals in recognition for their positive contribution to Azle. AND The winner gets the opportunity to collect for THEIR favorite charity. Shelbi Vaughan- 2016 Olympic athlete finalist has been chosen as the 1st recipient . Shelbi was chosen because of her dedication and fortitude to train to be an Olympic athlete . To represent not only the TOWN OF AZLE. But our country in a positive light . She is an unbelievably sweet role model for young female athletes. If that isn't impressive enough she also has a giving soul and does so much FREE of charge to build others up. Shelbi is pursuing her teaching degree. She's a substitute teacher -when she's not training to represent her country . And when she's not subbing she's helping her sister in law in the special education programs at Forte. She also has ran a shoe drive every year for the last 3 years for kids that can't afford shoes. She volunteers with the Azle track teams. She also helps out our four legged friends at Azle and other animal shelters. A collection will be taken at the event for Shelbi's charity of choice - 🎖The Christian Shane Fonville Youth Foundation🎗 We want to have a pleasant turnout for this first award in order to get the community involved in this positive recognition of our citizens.
