Welcome to McKenney-Harrison Elementary!  Home of the Bulldogs! McKenney-Harrison Elementary School teaches students with the District’s consistent curriculum design. The school is also in the process of becoming a Columbia University Teachers College Reading and Writing Project (TCRWP) school.

TCRWP provides specialized expertise to assist teachers and staff through the process of co-authoring and developing TCRWP’s teaching methodologies into the schools’ consistent curriculum. Students will learn to observe their lives and the world around them, collect information, and draft, revise, and publish well-crafted narrative and expository texts. When fully implemented, the curriculum at McKenney-Harrison will have 8-10 TCRWP units of study for each grade

As McKenney-Harrison moves forward in becoming a TCRWP-member school, Project Staff Developers will engage the entire school through rigorous reading and writing workshops in the classrooms. These workshops help teachers discover new ways to look at what is possible in their classrooms, and how literacy teaching becomes the entry point to make ongoing and sustainable enhancements to their classroom practices.
