Women’s Weekend Retreat May 12, 13 and 14 at Weber Center in Adrian, MI ANCESTRY.COMmunity Celebrating Our Lineage and Legacy If we don't know where we've been, it's hard to understand where we're going. In this retreat, we'll touch on God's history, our part in it, and how we understand our future and our legacy. Women of the community and their guests are invited to the annual Sophia Retreat Weekend to be held at Weber Center on the beautiful campus of the Adrian Dominican Sisters. Sr. Mary Ann Dixon, OP and Nancy Mason Bordley will facilitate the retreat experience and as always, the venue and tasty meals help to make it a meaningful and relaxing weekend. If you have not attended in the past, consider joining us! If you have attended and would like to come again, please do! Your sisters, moms, and friends are welcome too. The retreat is reasonably priced considering the rich benefits. Pontiac Bus Tour! Friday, May 12, 2017, 8:00am Get on the bus to tour the City of Pontiac to see its wonderful revitalization and also visit five - six different organizations doing remarkable work to lift up the City of Pontiac and its residents. We'll carpool at 8:00am from SJF to meet up with our bus. Cost is $20 and includes a lovely box lunch from Lafayette Market in Pontiac. We will return to St. John Fisher around 2:30pm. Upcoming GTF Course... The Liturgy and the Liturgical Seasons Instructor: Dr. Barbara Rund, OP This course is an overview of the origin, development and cultural aspects of Christian worship rooted in symbols, myths and rituals, as well as the liturgical aspect of the Church’s mission, with focus on Vatican II’s renewal of the Church year, major rites, and roles of liturgical ministers. The link of sacraments to the sacramentality of Christ and of the Church, as “mysteries” and sources of grace will be emphasized. This course focuses on the theology of Christian liturgy. Students will pay special attention to issues of culture/inculturation, initiation into the ecclesial community, the Eucharist and the liturgical year. Parish Retreat 2017
Retreat Theme: The piercing of the heart: celebrating your brokenness The retreat promises to be a great opportunity for our parish community! Our facilitator, Macrina Wiederkehr, OSB, is a nationally known author and retreat director and she brings a wealth of experience and background in spirituality. The retreat will run from Thursday evening through Sunday and our hope is to have our entire community participate! There will be sessions held during the day and evenings so that everyone can attend. The "We Are the Church" group will also be hosting a Thursday morning session at St. John Fisher with Macrina as the speaker. More information will be shared as we approach the date.
