Let us reverently try to understand what happened on that day of Pentecost. It is rightly called the birthday of the Church. Ten days before, the Savior had ascended. He had passed into the presence of the Father. He had left His little band of faithful followers to be witnesses for Him. And yet the strange thing is that though they trusted Him and were perfectly convinced that He was risen, they were not ready yet to be His witness-bearers. Were they ready to speak a new language?

We’ve all heard it, and most of us have either thought it or even prayed it. “God, if You [do this thing I currently want], then I’ll [do something I probably should do but haven’t].” We find ourselves in a situation we don’t like or lacking something we crave, yet we feel incapable of attaining our desire. Can we make a deal with God?

God is the one who establishes what He will do and what we will do, and we either accept or reject those terms. But we can’t try to change the terms to something we prefer. Can we make a deal with God?

We believe that through Christ we have been given direct access to God, just like a priest; thus the message is called the priesthood of all believers. God is equally accessible to all the faithful, and every Christian has equal potential to minister for God.

Hear the Word of the Lord as we speak this truth to one another: 1 Peter 2:9-10 “…You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
