We're very pleased to announce that SCHOOL member Marvin Cruz has accepted our offer to be our Director of Kids and Teens, and will be starting in early March. He'll be teaching classes for kids and teens, overseeing and supporting our assistant coaches and kids instructors, and helping re-design and improve our entire Kids and Teens program. Before accepting the position with SCHOOL, Marvin spent five years working with Think Together, an after-school enrichment program, most recently as a Site Coordinator. He has a BA in English from Cal State LA, and 8 years experience as a volunteer youth mentor. Marvin has been a member of SCHOOL since it opened and received his purple belt from Professor Ben Zhuang in 2017. He medaled in several competitions over the last two years, and plans on competing again in the near future. Most importantly, Marvin shares the mission and values of SCHOOL.
The staff and instructors of SCHOOL BJJ would like to share our recently adopted mission and values statement. We've created this statement to guide us as we serve our students. First and foremost, we commit ourselves to "providing a physically safe and emotionally welcoming place where people of diverse backgrounds can learn and grow together." Check out the photo for more, and thank you for your support as we work toward living this out. We look forward to growing together with all of you!
