Great progress is being made at Kids Kingdom. Now is your opportunity to participate in the rebuilding of the park. Volunteers are needed this Saturday, March 4th and again next Saturday, March 11th and throughout the week of Spring Break. Volunteers of all ages and skill levels are welcome. Just sign in at the Leathers (contractor) canopy stating whether skilled or unskilled so that each can be placed accordingly. This is a great opportunity for individuals, troop, church or school groups and businesses to become a part of this parks legacy with a personalized picket to be displayed on a memorial wall. All you or your group needs to do is work a total of 20 hours (for a group of 10 that's only 2 hours) or make a cash donation of $300 or more. (Donations need to be made at City Hall). FYI: Make sure you complete a Project Donation Sheet with the wording for your picket. We would like to encouraged everyone to participate in this community project by donating time or money toward the project. Please help get the word out by sharing with your friends. See you at the park.
The City of Andrews will be hosting a Blood Drive on Friday, March 10th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. Mobile Unit will be set up in parking lot across from City Hall. If you would like to sign up for a specific time, call Robyn at 432-523-4820. Walk-ins are also welcome. Be sure and bring your identification.
Extreme fire weather conditions are expected to be widespread over much of the Permian Basin beginning Thursday, February 23rd. A powerful system will pass across Texas bringing with it high winds with gusts of 35 to 50 mph and low relative humidity. These conditions increase the potential for fire starts, with fire rates of spread in grass fuels could reach 4 mph with flame lengths 10-12 feet. This equates to flames the height of a one story building burning the length of a football field in one minute. Please be diligent in safeguarding your surroundings if working with flammable materials.

2017 marks the 20th anniversary of Kids Kingdom, which was built by volunteers and is a great example of the civic pride shown by our citizens and our community working together on this wonderful recreational facility. We have a great opportunity to enhance and commemorate this important recreational facility with a new rebuild of the park. Kids Kingdom is officially closed with demolition beginning soon. It is expected to re-open in early spring with an all new look and many new features. The City and County, utilizing WCS monies for this rebuild, are using this momentous occasion to bring the citizens of Andrews a new Kids Kingdom commemorating the past by preserving the fence pickets as well as allowing for the opportunity for citizens to participate in some aspects of the rebuilding along with new signage. We appreciate your patience during this rebuild of the park and look forward to celebrating the re-opening with the community. Again, re-opening of the new Kids Kingdom is planned for early spring.

WEEDS AND TALL GRASS NOTICE (12 inches or taller) The City of Andrews has received lots of rain this year and is taking the steps necessary to ensure that local properties are being maintained properly. We are asking local residents to be vigilant with any property that they may own by making sure the properties are mowed and trimmed properly. Tall vegetation is blight to visitors, tends to harbor rodents and pests, and is also a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Fines for violation of this ordinance can get pricy along with city contracting fees. Help us make our community a better and safer place.
