Blue Wave Fine Art Gallery
Description
Blue Wave Fine Art Gallery is located in downtown Amesbury, MA. only a few miles from Newburyport, MA. Ongoing exhibits of local and national artists. Director, Asia Scudder, relocated to the New England area from Oklahoma in 2012. Now in her 25th year as a wire sculptor, Asia is excited to continue her artistic career in the Northeast. By opening Blue Wave Art Gallery she hopes to create an interactive, community art-space in Amesbury which will “not only showcase her own work but support the art of others.” Asia exhibits the work of local artists as well as artists from across the country.
When Asia Scudder first saw the space at 52 Main street in Amesbury, MA ., she looked past the old tile flooring and fading paint on the walls. Instead she saw the opportunity for a storefront gallery space that would host international, national, and local artists. Her own work in wire is created in the back studio of the space. She hopes that Blue Wave will become a go-to place for workshops, classes and public lectures on a variety of topics. Rental of the space is available for private functions. With a projector and screen on the way she will offer opportunity for PowerPoint presentations and the hosting of independent film nights. We offer opportunities for businesses to decorate with art from a wide selection of artists represented in the gallery.
Asia’s history with art spans generations. Not only were the walls of the home decorated with notable pieces of art, she also grew up hearing stories of her great aunts, the Cone sisters, who had befriended such greats as Matisse and Picasso, collecting their works in what would become a legendary historical collection now held at the Baltimore Museum of Art. She has herself been engaged in her own art career since 1993, and has exhibited widely with several solo exhibits and also having been included into the Venice Biennale (2001) and many years in Oklahoma’s VisionMakers biennial. She received her Master’s in Liberal Studies from the University of Oklahoma (2006).

Many thanks to all who attended, I learned so much about what makes a good collection ! And special thanks to our speaker Bruce Brown.
One of our featured artists for Saturday's poetry event thought his tombstone could read: "He's Gone To Meet The Poets" -- You can also come meet the poets - without anything so morbid! Please join us Saturday for an opening reception with Lainie Senechal, Amesbury's Poet Laureate at 6:30 pm. Artists will be in attendance to hear poems that were written as inspiration for their artwork! Free reception. All ages.
