The Alexander City Police Department operates a Patrol Division, Detective Division, Communications Division and maintains the jail On July 8th, 2013, I was sworn in as the Chief of Police of Alexander City, Alabama, by Judge
Randall S. Haynes. I started my career with the Alexander City Police Department on January
23rd, 1978 as a patrolman and worked my way through the ranks within the department. During
that time I have learned many important lessons and those lessons have led me to where I am
today.
The Alexander City Police Department is filled with many dedicated, hardworking men and
women who are committed to keeping our community safe. The department will continue to
be proactive in addressing crimes and apprehending the offenders, as well as continuing to
teach crime prevention techniques to the members of our community.
In addition, the Department is in the process of adapting the Intelligence ‐LED Policing Model to
our agency. This will allow us to be more effective and efficient in utilizing our resources to
identify, interrupt, apprehend and prosecute criminals in our community.
In closing, the command staff and I look forward to the upcoming challenges. The continued
support from the Mayor and City Council, as well as the citizens of this community, is greatly
appreciated. I welcome your input, comments or concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact
me, or any member of the command staff.
Thank you
Willie Robinson

First There Was Pink, Now There's a Deadly Opioid Called Gray Death Synthetic opioids continue to morph into new and deadly forms. Take the latest warning from law enforcement in the Southeast about fatal overdoses from a compound dubbed “gray death.” Consumed in rock or powder form, with the appearance of concrete mixing powder, this newly identified drug cocktail combines heroin, fentanyl and U-47700 and has been linked to at least four overdose deaths in Georgia and Alabama, according to a law enforcement document obtained by NBC News. Fentanyl and U-47700 are more powerful than heroin, and together, the drug combo is many times more powerful than heroin alone. Because the chemistry of the drug varies from batch to batch, it’s unpredictable how it will affect the user. Last year, two teen boys died from ingesting U-47700 in Park City, Utah after it was delivered — legally — to their homes via the mail. Also known as “Pink,” U-47700 is eight times stronger than heroin, and is part of a family of deadly synthetic opioids, all of them more powerful than heroin, that includes ifentanyl, carfentanil and furanyl fentanyl. Total opioid overdose deaths in the U.S. nearly quadrupled between 1999 and 2014, rising from 8,050 to 28,647, according to statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. The portion of those deaths caused by synthetic opioids rose almost twice as fast, from just 730 in 1999 to 5,544 in 2014. A potent new designer drug called "gray death" is responsible for recent overdoses and overdose-related deaths in the Gulf Coast region of the US.  NBC News

We can not stress enough to please monitor the local weather. The sirens will go off when the county comes under a warning, it may not always direct effect Alexander City. The latest sirens where due to a tornado warning for the Buttson and Davidson areas, not Alexander City. Currently Alexander City is no longer under any weather watches or warnings. City Hall is not opened at this time for a shelter. Alexander City has trees down and some power outage, the proper authorities are at work to get trees removed and power back. Please be safe and avoid any areas that damaged occurred.

Alexander City early warning system (sirens) are operating. We have received calls stating that news media stated that the system was down. News media reported that their radar wasn't operating in south Tallapoosa County. Their radar has nothing to do with the early warning system. Currently the system was activated due to a Severe Thunderstorm warning. We have also been placed under a Tornado Watch until 5:00 pm... Please monitor the local weather for updates.....
